What is  a Tummy Tuck

A Tummy Tuck is the removal of excess skin from your lower abdomen. It is performed  by making a long incision at the lower abdomen, the skin is lifted first to tighten the muscular wall underneath the fatty tissue, this will give your abdomen a tightened appearance. The excess skin is then cut away and the incision is re sutured. A new belly button is also created during this surgery to make it match the rest of the abdomen. We always perform Tummy Tuck surgery  with liposuction for best results.

Do I need a Tummy Tuck?

You could be an ideal candidate for abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) if you have one or more of the following conditions:

  • Excess or sagging abdominal skin.
  • A distended protruding abdomen
  • Abdominal muscles that have been separated and weakened (rectus diastasis).
  • Excess fatty tissue that is concentrated in your abdominal area (fat pads).

Mini vs Full Tummy tuck?

Sometimes we may only have a small amount of excess skin at the mid – front of our abdomen, this is where we would perform a mini tummy tuck as opposed to a full one. Unlike the Full Tummy Tuck the mini Tummy Tuck consists of only removing skin from the mid front abdomen which is only a small incision roughly 7 inches long. It does not consist of abdominal muscular wall tightening or a new belly button and is performed for less severe cases.
